This is one to lift the spirits and warm your soul on a cold, grey, winter’s day. As well as being delicious, cacao has a number of health benefits – it’s high in antioxidants, polyphenols and other nutrients like iron, magnesium and copper.
Ingredients (serves 2):
- 250ml milk or milk alternative
- 2 tablespoons of cacao powder (I recommend ceremonial grade)
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
- Pinch of sea salt
Method:
Warm the milk in a pan. When it’s just simmering, reduce the heat to low and add the other ingredients. Whisk until combined. I like to use a handheld milk frother for extra frothiness.
